Job Description
SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking an Environmental Specialist for our Sheridan, Wyoming office. As part of an interdisciplinary team, this position will assist with natural resources field data collection, preparation and review of environmental reports, and Geographic Information System (GIS) applications. A working knowledge of the major environmental regulatory processes, including but not limited to, Endangered Species Act and Clean Water Act is beneficial but not required. Bird identification experience is highly desirable. Candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills, initiative, attention to detail, and motivation to acquire new skills. This position is a temporary, hourly position. Pay will be based on individual qualifications and experience.
Job Requirements:
Assist with a variety of natural resources field studies including threatened/endangered species habitat assessments, threatened/endangered species presence/absence surveys, wetlands delineations, geologic assessments, Phase I ESAs, and avian surveys
Perform data entry, organization, interpretation, and analysis
Assist in preparation of exhibits and impacts assessments using ArcGIS
Assist in the writing and development of natural resources documents, including habitat evaluations, wetlands determination reports, and environmental assessments
Ensure tasks are completed in the most effective manner with a high-degree of quality and reliability
Work closely with SWCA staff to promote SWCA's business interests in adherence to its mission, vision, and values
Job
Qualifications:
Minimum of BA or BS in environmental planning, environmental sciences, biology, botany, ecology, environmental science, natural resource management or related field required
Minimum of 2 years of experience in related work required
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local permitting laws and processes required
Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, and Acrobat
Familiarity with mapping software such as ArcGIS is highly desired
Excellent organization, oral, written, and analytical skills
Flexibility and willingness to learn and implement company procedures and new concepts.
Ability to constantly improve methods and approaches
Ability to work as a member of a team, as well as independently to make decisions and complete tasks in the most effective manner
