JOB SUMMARY The Urgent Care Nurse Lead operates as an RN in the Urgent Care with additional responsibilities.
Assists in responsibility for planning # organizing operations of Urgent Care in collaboration with the Urgent Care Manager, Urgent Care Medical Director # Chief Ambulatory Officer.
Assists in assuming responsibility for activities and personnel.
Evaluates provision of services ensuring that they reflect the organization#s philosophy and standards and takes corrective action through performance improvement processes.
Maintains open communication with all staff to promote cohesiveness # quality performance.
Assists with standard work for the department.
Strives to constantly improve workflows and coordinated care for patients.
Maintains performance improvement activities within the department.
Assists in evaluation of competency of personnel.
Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal clinical, financial, and resource outcomes through daily operations of the department.
The RN#is responsible for the assessment, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of the delivery of safe and effective patient-centered care in a variety of settings based on education, knowledge, skill set, and competency.
The RN communicates with physicians/Managers/co-workers, as appropriate about changes in patient#s clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs.
Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in the departments with adequate supervision.

Organizes orientation and in-service training for nursing and staff to ensure compliance with annual educational, safety, and regulatory requirements consistent with hospital policy and procedures.
Assists with the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of performance improvement activities using lean methodology.
Provides staff education with an emphasis on the organizational performance quality improvement program.
Assists in monitoring staff performance, facilitates effective teamwork, and assists in annual staff performance evaluation and competency review in conjunction with the Urgent Care manager.
Assists in providing development opportunities for staff to broaden and enhance skills and abilities.
Ensures compliance with safety policies and good housekeeping.
Secures and maintains the equipment, medications, and supplies which are required to carry out effective patient care and create an optimum physical environment.
Ensures preventive maintenance of equipment.
Organizes orientation and in-service training for nursing and staff to ensure compliance with annual educational, safety, and regulatory requirements consistent with hospital policy and procedures.
Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.
Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency safety standards relevant to job performance.
Tracks and adheres to financial operational plan.
Makes sound decisions that consider cost/benefit.
Accurate estimation of expense levels and innovates ideas to reduce expenses.
Performs chart audits as needed.
Assists with Occupational Health responsibilities and personally covers for the Occupational Health Lead as needed.
Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient#s age.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patient population served.
Able to interpret data about the patient#s status in order to identify each patient#s age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group.
Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy and specific to unit age specific populations.
Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain.
Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques including non- pharmacological techniques.
Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Knowledgeable of Infection Control, TB, Blood-borne Pathogens and Hazardous waste plans.
Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning.
Family is included in teaching as appropriate.
Ability to perform treatments and provide services within scope of practice.
Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient#s needs.
Assists physician(s) and physician assistant(s) with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.
Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function well under stressful situations.
Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.
Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families.
Functions as liaison between the patient/family, physicians, other healthcare providers and administration.
Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.
Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
Documentation meets current standards and policies.
Demonstrates the ability to use the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), to gather data and input quality information for EMR reporting measures.
Coordinates and supervises patient care as necessary.
Assists in successful implementation of programs to improve coding and reimbursement for specific procedures.
Assists in identifying referring physicians and assuring to the extent possible that strong relationships are developed and preserved.
Assists the physician(s) and physician assistant(s) in addressing hospital and clinic related issues, serves as a liaison and representative of in resolving problems and participates on committees as appropriate.
Ability to effectively coordinate care in a complex practice model with highly interactive multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals with competing demands on available resources which must be balanced to create patient-centered care.
Work will include setting common goals, merging resources, providing education, and cross training roles.
Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department / organization# # #POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education / Experience / License and Certifications Current unrestricted Wyoming Registered Nurse Licensure, required.
BLS certification, required.
BSN, preferred.
Additional certifications may be required based on unit assignment.
Minimum of one year of acute care experience, preferred.
Department Specific Education / Experience / License and Certifications ACLS certification within 1 year of start date PALS within 1 year of start date.
Drug Testing Collection certification Breath Alcohol Testing certification Audiogram certification within 3 months of start date.
FIT certification within 3 months of start date.
Spirometry certification #NIOSH within 3 months of start date.
Trained in DOT processes, including facilitating work injuries.
